8 Russian rockets shot, Ukraine's Vynnytsia airport destroyed

Vynnytsia Airport in Ukraine reportedly destroyed. Russia is said to have bombarded it with eight rockets.

"I have been informed of a rocket attack on Vynnytsia, 8 rockets," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video quoted by the Associated Press (AP) Sunday (6/3/2022) evening local time.

"The rocket attack was cruel and cynical. The airport has been completely destroyed," he added.

It is not yet known whether there were any casualties or not in the attack. Previously, Russia had also controlled the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in its neighbor.

at the same time, he also again urged the West to implement a no-fly zone over Ukraine. This is to stem Russian air attacks.

"We repeat it every day. Close the skies over Ukraine. Close off all Russian rockets, all military affiliates," he said.

Previously, Russian President Vladimir Putin had warned the West. He asked them not to implement a no-fly zone in Ukraine.

According to Putin, there will be consequences, not only for Europe but for the world. Those countries would be considered Russia entered into a military conflict.

"We will immediately consider them as participants in the military conflict, and no matter which member of the organization they are," Putin said.

"It is impossible to do so, on the territory of Ukraine, it is only possible from the territory of some neighboring countries. But any movement in this direction we will consider as participation in armed conflict," he added.

Russia has been attacking Ukraine since February 24, 2022. Russia recognizes two rebel areas in the country, asks Ukraine not to join NATO, and wants it to recognize Crimea under Kremlin authority.
